Two military spouses created the Military Spouse JD Network in 2011 in response to the challenges and seeming incompatibility of maintaining a legal career while living the mobile military life. Thanks to the network, many states across the country now have accommodations for military spouse attorneys, and other states have pending legislation. Click here to see if your state provides licensing accommodations. Thanks in part to the MSJDN, 28 states and the US Virgin Islands have military spouse attorney licensing accommodations and efforts are underway in 15 other states. The Military Spouse JD Network has more than 700 members and offers programs to educate, support and provide networking opportunities to members.
- Homefront Rising is a joint nonpartisan initiative of the Military Spouse JD Network and Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Professional Network that encourages and trains military spouses to get involved in the political process by serving in public office and positions of influence.
- Homefront to Hired is a partnership between the Military Spouse JD Network, law firms and other companies committed to hiring military spouses.
- Making the Right Moves is the Military Spouse JD Network’s annual career development conference created for military spouse attorneys. Learn from the experts; celebrate with your fellow military spouses and network with the legal, military and business communities.
In 2014, the group formed the Military Spouse JD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to develop military spouse attorneys as professionals, teach effective advocacy skills and provide opportunities to use those skills to address the legal needs of the military and veteran communities.
The Military Spouse JD Network is a member of the Spouse Ambassador Network, a group of organizations united to help military spouses achieve their education and career goals. Click here for a full list of Spouse Ambassador Network-participating organizations.
